Headers

Headers are the principal distribution terminals for fluids - whether steam or hot water - generated within the boiler. These critical components collect fluid from several sources, such as tube networks or water wall panels, and efficiently transfer it to different areas of the boiler system for further processing or utilisation. For the boiler to operate as safely and efficiently as possible, steam headers must continue to provide a constant and even flow of fluids. Of all the boiler components, steam headers are the unnoticed luminaries that quietly control the flow of water and steam distribution throughout the system.

Evaporators in Boilers are designed to maximise heat transfer efficiency. The core of a studded bed coil is a network of high-quality tubes, often made of carbon or alloy steel. These tubes serve as conduits, transporting water and steam throughout the boiler system. However, what actually distinguishes studded bed coils is the presence of strategically positioned studs—small, projecting pieces welded directly to the surface of the tubes.

Headers in high-pressure boilers are not one-size-fits-all components; instead, they are custom-designed to satisfy the unique requirements of each system. RIBO, understands the value of customised solutions. We use modern automation for header pitch marking, which improves the precision of ligament design during manufacture.

Welding these studs onto the tubes is an intricate process. Our expertise is in applying the advanced "drawn arc" technology. The drawn arc approach produces high-quality, secure welds even with limited space. This careful approach is essential for optimising heat transfer efficiency and avoiding leaks or failures in the high-pressure boiler setting.

Center-Panel
Our headers range in size from a modest 100 mm to a substantial 600 mm nominal bore (NB), allowing us to cater to the diverse capacities required by high-pressure industrial boilers.

Building a header is a complex task that necessitates attentive workmanship. Our talented artisans expertly solder nozzle pipes and stubs in a range of diameters onto the header's main body while maintaining precise Heat-Affected Zone (HAZ) standards. Steam moves between various components via these nozzles and stubs. The flawless functioning of the boiler system depends on the accuracy of this welding procedure, which guarantees the security of each connection.

Welding precision involves more than simply making physical connections; it's about guaranteeing a consistent flow of fluids throughout the header. This homogeneity is critical for optimum boiler performance. Even tiny irregularities or pressure drops in the steam header might upset the system's delicate balance, resulting in efficiency losses or even safety problems. Our dedication to precision in design and construction ensures that our steam headers contribute to your boiler's consistent and efficient running.
